Description

Rättvik Municipality's cultural school has existed since the 1956/57 school year. We offer instruction in dance, woodwinds, percussion, keyboard, brass, strings, and singing across many genres and in various ensembles. In recent years, the activities have expanded to include both dance and drama; since the autumn term of 2025, we are known as Rättviks kulturskola.

Fiddle music and folk music hold a special place in Rättvik's cultural life. There is a rich tradition and a vibrant music scene where folk fiddling has a natural place. Here, the cultural school plays an important role in carrying forward and developing Rättvik's musical life.

Job Description

We are currently seeking an engaged and creative fiddle teacher to work as a substitute on a part-time basis (50%) during the 2026/27 school year.

You will teach using both formal notation and ear training, both individually and in ensembles.

In the role of fiddle teacher, you will work together with the rest of the faculty at the cultural school. You will also continue to develop the established collaborations with the region's folk music groups and the broader musical life that already exist. You will have excellent opportunities to create an activity where your unique competence can be fully utilized.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a university degree in fiddle pedagogy with a folk music focus, or another artistic or pedagogical education that the employer considers equivalent.
• Has a burning interest in fiddle playing and pedagogy.
• Has the ability to create a safe, creative, and developmental environment for students of all ages and levels.
• Is flexible and can adapt teaching to the needs and conditions of the students.
• Is responsible, communicative, and finds it easy to collaborate with both colleagues and students.

Relevant professional experience is an asset.

Since instruction is conducted in Swedish, you must have a good command of the Swedish language. You must also hold a Class B driver's license.

Great importance will be placed on your personal qualities.

Other Information

The position is a temporary substitute role for the 2026/27 school year.

In the event of an interview, an extract from the police criminal record register, according to the Education Act, must be presented.
